BAIC Electric Vehicle Engineering Research Institute officially received the TMMi Level 3 Certification from the TMMi Foundation with the highest score that all certification items are “fully satisfied” at the iSQE Software Quality Engineering Summit held on October 23, 2020. In result, the Institute became the first test organization receiving the TMMi Level 3 Certification in the international auto industry. BAIC Electric Vehicle received the TMMi Best Practice Organization Award, and Dai Kangwei, Vice President of BAIC Electric Vehicle Engineering Research Institute, received the Individual Award for Outstanding Contribution at the Summit. BAIC Electric Vehicle keep leading electronic control technology of new energy vehicles, as the first automaker participating in the international software testing certification and process improvement certification.

TMMi developed by the TMMi Foundation is the most influential process improvement model for software testing teams in the world. It is a non-commercial, organization-independent testing maturity model designed to support organizations around the world to improve their software and system testing, and to achieve higher quality and sustainable products for the systems they develop and maintain.

TMMi is an internationally authoritative evaluation model to test organization maturity and accordingly the TMMi certification is an extremely powerful qualification certification for software quality management. LG, Dell, HP and China Merchants Bank already received the certification. As the world’s first automaker receiving this award, this is an affirmation and recognition of BAIC Electric Vehicle’s decade-long concentration on all-electric development and pursuit of technological innovation.

The electronic control test team of BAIC Electric Vehicle Engineering Research Institute has been actively aligning with the international leading automotive controller test technology standards, consistently focusing on the electronic control systems of electric vehicles, and committed to driving the rapid development of China's new energy vehicle test technology since its establishment.

After 11 years of cultivation of electronic control test technology, construction of test systems and accumulation of practical experience, the team has the abilities to test the independent performance of the whole process (design / execution / judgment / evaluation) and the customized development of tool chains in the whole process, taking the lead in terms of test scale, automation level and personnel capabilities among international peers. The team has made impressive achievements in four major areas, including: built product risk evaluation and management system in order to cooperate with the mode of developing vehicle configurations and products in a manner of timely response to market demands and rapid literation; constructed an organization-level test asset library to promptly transform the test experience into reusable standardized test assets of the organization; expanded the non-functional test business to expand the quality attributes of products under verification from the original single functionality to compatibility, portability, applicability and other non-functional quality attributes; and designed personal development path planning and supporting training courses for staff to ensure staff and the organization to grow together.
