International auto shows are a dazzling stage and a fantastic window for auto companies and fans alike to see developing trends in the auto market. These shows are also an opportunity for every car company to present the best features of their brand to the global market. At the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, the BAIC Group, a new member of the Fortune 500 and a pillar of China’s auto industry, is ready to do this, and on its home turf no less. At the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition” in the Beijing China International Exhibition Center, BAIC showcased the most stunning product lineup in its history. The following three highlights of the BAIC presentation at the event illuminate a “New BAIC” whose brand value is rising fast.

The first of these was the BAIC stand, which proved to be the perfect focal point for presenting the latest BAIC products. Displayed in the 2,300m2 stand were 25 concept cars, new models, production cars, and electric vehicles from BAIC. Participating BAIC brands included BAIC, Changhe, Beijing Electric Vehicle, Foton, and BAW, as well as the joint-venture brands Beijing Hyundai and Beijing Mercedes-Benz.

The second major aspect was that the SAAB-based SENOVA family introduced a new member, the SENOVA D50 (called A315 abroad). Known as “the Nordic Car”, the SENOVA D50 is the second original sedan from BAIC following its acquisition of SAAB. As an emerging brand, SENOVA has won a number of fans across China for its faithful reproduction of the SAAB DNA, and set a legendary sales record of over 10,000 units in just six months after its market launch. As the twin brother of the D70 (called A5 abroad), the D50 shares the same body design, drive shaft, and other technologies, but delivers a better driving experience in a more competitive price range.

The third highlight was the great popularity of BAIC’s electric vehicles. In 2013, BAIC secured a 25.55% share of China’s electric vehicle market, the highest of all carmakers. At the 2014 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, BAIC showcased the fresh faces of its electric vehicle technologies. The E150EV will be displayed nationwide and used in emergency transport service, which testifies to the great popularity of BAIC’s electric vehicles.
