From October 18-21, 2014, the first World New Energy and Electric Vehicle Expo Series, an exposition of electric vehicles, was held in Qingdao. As one of the world’s top 500 enterprises and a leader in China in the energy-saving and new energy automotive industry, BAIC Group proudly participated in the event.

Zhang Xi Yong, general manager of BAIC Group noted that the sector of new energy vehicles is one of the most important emerging industries to promote world economic growth. BAIC Group, one of China’s five major automotive groups, has over the years successfully promoted the development of new energy vehicles and has mastered the core technologies of this new industry. Moreover, BAIC Group is a shareholder in the US company Atieva, which focuses on the research and development of high-end electric cars and whose products are expected to be available by the end of 2015. Furthermore, during the Auto China in 2014, BAIC signed a cooperation agreement with German company Siemens. The two partners will establish a joint venture in Beijing, dedicated to the production of new energy vehicles and related products. In August 2014, BAIC Group became the “Special Sponsor of the 2014 APEC meeting” and presented a variety of green vehicles as its “2014 APEC official cars.”

The World New Energy and Electric Vehicle Expo Series, sponsored by the Ministry of housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China, the Qingdao Municipal Government, the World Electric Vehicle Promotion Organization, the Asian electric vehicle industry alliance and other organizations, was designed to promote and facilitate the development of an eco-friendly, new energy automotive industry.
